How We Got Started

In April 2015, senior team members of the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Manassas VEXU Team had discussions about branching out and forming an independent team. During this time, George Mason University Science and Technology campus Administrative Staff was in discussion about sponsoring a VEXU team. An Information meeting of interested team members and the Mason Administrative Staff took place in May 2015. In August 2015, the green light was formally given for a George Mason VEXU Robotics Team to be located at the Manassas campus in Prince William County, VA. The combined talent of George Mason and NOVA students is now actively building competitive robots under the name SCITECH Robotics. The team members continue their outreach efforts by mentoring local middle and high school teams, while helping to raise the profile of the Engineering programs and degrees available at George Mason University.
